View Article  Mr. Bonds, put your money with your mouth is

Here is a great way for Barry Bonds to end the controversy concerning IF he took steroids.  Barry should agree to drug testing every few days by whatever organization is deemed as being appropriate by the media.  By agreeing to consistent steroid testing it should be pretty clear he isn't taking steroids (assuming he doesn't fail a test).

However, that doesn't resolve the question IF Bonds took steroids over the past few seasons where virtually anything that touched his bat went out of the park. So, Barry should make a definitive statement that he will hit 50 home runs this year, bat over 300, etc.

By agreeing to testing and hitting some pretty hard core, but achievable baseball metrics, Bonds can finally end this controversy and show he is really one of the best of all time.

As a huge New York "football" Giants fan, this is sad to see.

I didn't think it was possible, but Terrell Owens must be more reviled than Barry Bonds.  Given TO's tantrums and punishment over the last few months, I was thinking about who the good guys are in the NFL.  One of my favorite players is Priest Holmes.  He is an aggressive, yet patient runner. He is also a well spoken ambassador for the league and a class act as exemplified by graciously sharing playing time with Larry Johnson (another cry baby).  Unfortunately, Priest is done for the season.  I guess bad things happen to good people.

View Article  Fantasy Football = Lost Productivity

I have to admit that I'm hooked on fantasy football. I've always loved watching pro football (especially my team the New York (Jersey) Giants.  However, since I am involved in a fantasy league I find myself watching and cheering for players (like Terrell Owens) and teams (the Eagles) that I despise. What a great marketing vehicle for the NFL.

Confession to eBay (my employer): although I try and spend as little time as possible reviewing my fantasy team and stats, on occasion I do spend a small bit of time on ESPN's fantasy site (which is terrible and I'll never use it after this season).  Also, Ro and I probably spend 5-10 minutes per week discussing our respective teams.

That leads me to the following question: how much productivity do US companies lose due to fantasy football?  Thanks to the NY Times, here is an estimate: 10 minutes of being unproductive costs employees $196.1 million.  Ouch!

Rafael Palmeiro just got busted for taking steroids!  I'm personally not all that bothered he was on the juice.  However, what really bothers me is he spoke at a Congressional testimony and vehemently denied he ever used steroids.  Now that he got busted his response is: "I have never intentionally used steroids. Never. Ever. Period."  At least be honest about it!

Let me guess what happened! Somewhat put steroids into his Viagra.

On a (un)related note, Barry Bonds said he won't make it back for the 2005 season.  hmmm!!!
