I suck at poker!  To get better, I solicited the help of Adam, Dan and Ro in a game of high stakes ($5 buy in) Texas holdem. Needless to say I lost.  I was thinking there are two reasons people like me like to play poker: 1) to win money and 2) to be with friends.  Given I probably can't win more than $20 a game, #2 is clearly the more obvious reason why I play.

As I write in my weblog, I am trapped in my bedroom as my wife entertains her friends for book group.  I already got scolded for eating a few chips and dip (apparently it is only for book group).  As I listen to these ladies laughing and giggling, I suddenly realized the purpose of the book group is to do everything except discuss the book.  I think they spent a total of 5 minutes on the book and the rest is to socialize. 

So my point is my game of poker is equivalent to my wife's book group.  Like they say, men are from Mars...
